We Set Oelo Lights on Fire. Here's Why.
Oelo has the best safety ratings in the permanent holiday lighting industry. To prove it, they dunked, froze, and torched their lights on camera — and filmed the whole thing.
We cut their fire test down to the 19 seconds that matter. Watch it here:

Here's what happens: they take a blowtorch to a live strand of Oelo lights. One bulb goes out. The rest of the strand keeps burning bright. And then — the torched bulb turns itself back on.
That's not a trick. That's what happens when your lights are built to the highest safety standards in the industry.
What "Industry-Best Safety Ratings" Actually Means
Oelo is the only permanent lighting system we know of that holds all three of these third-party certifications:
IP68 waterproof rating. The 6 is the highest possible rating against dust and solid objects. The 8 means the lights are rated for long-term immersion in water — not just rain, but sustained submersion. In Florida, where afternoon downpours are a lifestyle, that matters.
UL 94 V-0 fire rating. This is the big one. UL 94 V-0 means the materials are highly resistant to ignition and self-extinguish within 10 seconds. That's why the torched bulb in the video doesn't melt, spread, or keep burning — the housing simply refuses to catch fire.
UL certification. The UL mark is one of the most widely recognized symbols of safety in the world. It means an independent third party tested the system and verified it meets rigorous safety standards — not just the manufacturer's own claims.
Many HOAs have started requiring permanent holiday lights to meet third-party safety certifications like these. Oelo meets all of them.
Why We Install Oelo
We're Perks Smart Solutions, based in the Bradenton area. We install permanent lighting, security cameras, and smart home systems across Manatee, Sarasota, and Hillsborough counties, down to Fort Myers.
We chose Oelo because it's the system we'd put on our own homes. When a manufacturer is confident enough to take a blowtorch to their product on camera, that tells you everything about how it's built.
Oelo has even sent customers directly to us — including a Naples homeowner whose botched install from another company had two other contractors stumped before Oelo referred him our way. Read that story here.
The Bottom Line
Most permanent lights are just lights. Oelo is a safety-rated system that happens to look incredible — 16 million colors, app-controlled, invisible by day.
If you're considering permanent lighting, ask whoever quotes you about safety certifications. Then ask yourself whether you'd trust a system the manufacturer won't set on fire.
